Well, happy New Year!
I'm not used to the 2000's yet. Weren't we all supposed to be taking shuttles
to the moon to the tune of the Blue Danube by now?
I hope wherever you
are that you're staying warm. Here at the homestead we're keeping the woodstove
going all day, which means my cat has abandoned her usual spot on the Computer
Lap so she can lounge beside the firebricks. Huh. Or maybe she's freaked
out by the frilly, fingerless gloves that I wear when I type. My office
does get rather chilly, to put it mildly.
Too bad my beloved
Pats are out of the playoffs. Oh, well. I'll be rooting for the Vikings
now, mostly because of the Old Guy who's quarterbacking. Okay, it might
seem odd that a canuck like me follows the NFL instead of the NHL but I
gave up on hockey more than thirty years ago. The sport's not the same
as what I remember when I was a kid - if you want to see real hockey, you
have to watch the Olympic matches. That's what I think, anyway. Hmm, you'll
probably see some character in one of my books mention that someday. Most
of my opinions find their way into print eventually.
Ah, but hockey already
has popped up in a few of my books. Ever notice the names of my characters?
In several of my stories, just for fun, I made a point to give at least
one person the same last name as one of my favorite hockey players from
the old days. In one memorable scene (at least for me) the bad guy is named
Hull, and he's being chased by Horton and Lamere. Okay, if you don't get
it, find a canuck over 50 and ask them.
And speaking of books,
I just finished checking over the page proofs for ACCIDENTAL COMMANDO,
the second of the new Eagle Squadron: Countdown series. I finished writing
that book last June, so it was wonderful to read it "fresh." I kept snickering
at the lines my heroine came out with - it doesn't feel as if I wrote them,
since when I'm working on a book the characters tend to take on a life
of their own. Yes, it would probably be troubling to a psychiatrist. Hmm.
Maybe that's the real reason the cat has started to make herself scarce...

Ingrid Weaver
Born
and raised in the picturesque Kawartha Lakes area of southern Ontario,
Canada, Ingrid Weaver took a roundabout route to her career in writing.
After earning a degree in English Literature, she taught high school math
and history in the mining town of Noranda, Quebec, eventually retiring
to stay home full time to care for her three children. Deciding she
preferred the freedom of working at home, she turned her love of books
toward the challenge of writing one of her own.
Since
the publication of Ingrid Weaver's first novel, TRUE BLUE in May 1994,
her work has been published by Silhouette, Harlequin and Berkley.
Her books have appeared on the U.S.A. Today and the Waldenbooks
bestseller lists. In 1998 she won the Romance Writers of America's
prestigious RITA Award for Romantic Suspense for her Silhouette novel,
ON THE WAY TO A WEDDING. Ingrid has also received the Romantic Times
Career Achievement Award for Series Romantic Suspense.
Currently
Ingrid lives with her husband and one of their children on a farm nestled
in the rolling countryside near the village of Frankford, Ontario. Depending
on the season, when she isn't at her computer you can usually find her
poking at her gardens, lost in a knitting binge or skiing through the maple
bush beyond the back forty. |
