Eagle Squadron

I.W.:

Believe it or not, the idea for Eagle Squadron started way back in 1998 when I was doing background research for WHAT THE BABY KNEW.  The hero in that book was Quinn Keelor, a former Navy SEAL, and while I was fascinated by what I learned about SEALs (who wouldn't be?!) I was completely blown away by what I discovered about the commandos of Delta Force.

I thought, whoa, these guys deserve a series of their own.  Over the next three years, the characters and their stories continued to haunt me, beginning with Rafe Marek, scarred on the outside yet beautiful on the inside.  But by the time I was ready to put pen to paper - or bits on a hard drive - September 11th happened.

Suddenly, the need for heroes was more urgent than ever before.  While I created the fictional characters of Eagle Squadron, I saw their real life counterparts on the evening news.  As an author, it was humbling as well as inspiring.

I hope you enjoyed the stories of Eagle Squadron.  They are my tribute to the men and women who serve their country in uniform:  The real heroes.
